How we’re preparing to go back to work

By: Sophie Cross Published: 29th April 2020

As most of the rest of the country went into lockdown, it was felt that a certain amount of ambiguity was left around the construction industry. Most of us definitely couldn’t work from home and many sites have stayed open.

The current situation for Red & Blue

The main commercial and residential sites that the Red & Blue teams are currently working at in London and Berkshire are shut at the moment but we are all aware that coronavirus isn’t going to be an on/off situation.

This means that, even though we don’t have an exact date yet, we are preparing for returning to work so that we can continue to support our clients while protecting our workforce.

How we are preparing

We are working with our client Millgate Homes and our Health & Safety consultants, Ellis Whittam to create guides and risk assessments for returning to work. These include all checks that we need to make and how we can work safely with social distancing in place at all times.

We have:

  • Increased safety measures to ensure the two-metre social distancing guidelines are met.

  • Measures for safely travelling to and from sites and staggered start times.

  • Additional PPE and hygiene supplies for staff.

  • Strict hand-washing or sanitising rules.

  • Increased the frequency for the cleaning of public areas.

  • Guidelines for site visitors (with no non-essential visitors).

  • Over-communication plans including daily briefings, site meetings and toolbox talks. We’re also already checking in with staff on an individual basis more than usual to offer support.

  • Set our administration team up with facilities to work from home.

Supporting our team members and keeping them safe is our highest priority so that we can continue to provide an exceptional level of service.
